Ethical Guidelines Pertaining to Forgery Prevention and Homestead Property
Forgeries are foreseeable. While they are not always preventable, in most every instance in which the signature on a document (deed, mortgage satisfaction or assignment, death certificate, etc.) has been forged, there is a particular circumstance which should raise the suspicion of a knowledgeable and alert title agent. We need to act on those concerns and not proceed until we are convinced there is no risk of a forgery.
